The Annual Lenten Retreat of the St Thomas More Society (with the Catenian Association) took place on 8 March 2014 at St Dominic’s Catholic Church, Flemington.
It is possible to offer frequent and fervent prayer, even at the market place or strolling alone! It is possible also in one’s place of business, while buying or selling, or even while cooking! All times are good for prayer. St John Chrysostom
The Retreat was directed by Fr Peter Joseph. Fr Peter is a lecturer at Vianney Seminary, Wagga, and the editor of the revised edition of Sheehan’s Apologetics. As St John Chrysostom says, it is possible to offer frequent and fervent prayer, even at the market place or strolling alone! It is possible also in one’s place of business, while buying or selling, or even while cooking! All times are good for prayer. The Church, however, proposes special times to the faithful to stress and nurture continual prayer, including an annual retreat.
The Annual Lenten Retreat is, after the Red Mass, the most important event in the Society’s calendar.
The Annual Retreat includes Mass, meditations, and the rosary, as well as a Q and A session with Fr Peter, and an opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession). Silence is encouraged (except at lunchtime). A light lunch is provided.
